Amsterdam was the main stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. The venue is currently used mostly for athletics, other sports events and concerts.

Hague hosted the 13th 2014 Hockey World Cup tournament. Men's event won by Australia and the women's event won by the Netherlands. Stadium hosts Ado Den Haag a leading team in the Dutch football league.

Utrecht

Utrecht hosted the 1998 Field Hockey World Cup tournament final. The Dutch Hockey team became the World Champions beating Spain 3-2. The Gaigenwaard Stadium also regularly hosts club team football.
