France National hosts regular matches for the French National rugby league. The Stade Ernest Wallon staged the 2009 Gillette Four Nations tournament, between France, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

Lyon played host to the 1972 Rugby League World Cup Final. The Stade de Gerland also hosted 6 matches during the 1998 Football World Cup and 3 matches for the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup.

Toulouse hosts regular team rugby in the French rugby league, Top 14 league. The Stade Ernest Wallon has also staged the 2009 Gillette Four Nations rugby league tournament.
